RONNIE ‘SLICK’ GILBERT
Finger, TN: Ronnie Aaron Gilbert age 68 passed away September 29, 2017 at his home.
He was born January 5, 1949 in the Finger Community of McNairy County, the son of the late Robert Aaron and Minnie Jane Smith Gilbert. He went to school at Finger and graduated Bethel Springs High School in 1967. He was drafted in to the U.S. Army in 1969 and went to Vietnam and served a tour and came back to the states and was stationed in Colorado. He was in the 101st Airborne and 1st Air Cavalry. He came out of the service in the early 1970’s. He began working at Brown Shoe, Olean Tile and Bemis Mill in the mid 1990’s he went to work at Tool Products of Jackson and then to Henderson where he worked for Premier Mfg. retiring in 2007. He was a Baptist in belief.
He loved to golf, bird hunt, gardening and he was a hard worker.
Mr. Gilbert is survived by two sons, Blake Gilbert of Crump and Chris Gilbert of Finger; stepchildren, Timothy Smith of Finger, Meagan Blackmon of AL and Hollie Smith Brunning of Bethel Springs; his fiancé, Debbie Terry Floyd of Finger; sixteen grandchildren and one great grandchild and two brothers, Jeff Gilbert and Keith Ada both of Linden, TN.
The family will receive friends at Shackelford Funeral Directors – Casey Chapel 1:00 PM until 5:00 PM Sunday. Memorial services will be at a later date.
