Rose Anne (Roseanne) Cain, 93, of Corinth, Mississippi, passed away March 18, 2019.
She was born to the late James M. and Rosa Lee (Rosalie) Haynes Piercey on May 17, 1925, in Corinth, Mississippi, and later moved to Selmer, Tennessee. Roseanne graduated from Selmer High School in 1943, received a BA from Memphis State University, and earned a Masters degree from Bethel College. For 30 years, she worked for the McNairy Board of Education as a first grade teacher and reading specialist/supervisor.
Roseanne was married to the late Harry M. Cain on Feb. 13, 1946. She is survived by three children: Mike Cain (Cindy), of Selmer; Dennis Cain (Lanling Gao), of Scottsdale, Arizona; and Susan Cain, of Spring Hill, TN; and a half-sister, Betty Knickerbocker, and a host of grandchildren, great grandchildren and great great grandchildren. She was predeceased by her loving husband in 2000.
Roseanne was a beloved teacher whose passion for teaching and love of reading launched many local first graders into the fascinating world of books. She then led the McNairy Co. Board of Education’s reading initiatives to aid both students and teachers in this important educational arena. Roseanne also passed her love of learning and reading on to her children. In addition to being an active member of Selmer United Methodist Church, she was a talented pianist, a needlework enthusiast who created her own designs, and a crossword puzzle aficionado. Roseanne was one of the first computer experts in the area, using a personal computer and writing computer programs long before computers were common. She indulged her love of the arts early and late in life through drawing and painting. Roseanne was immensely proud of her family and leaves behind a wealth of laughter and beautiful memories. As her health declined, she relied on and deepened her faith in the Lord before earning her wings.
