Roy Doles, 80, of Bolivar, passed away Friday, September 16, 2022, at Bolivar General Hospital.
The widower of Jeannie Gates Doles, who died on November 21, 1994, after 30 years of marriage, he worked over 20 years as a camp ranger for the Girl Scout Council, working in Tennessee, Mississippi and Arkansas. He also worked building mobile homes. He was born June 17, 1942, in McNairy County, son of the late Daniel Head & Velma Doles, and lived all of his life in Hardeman County. He went to school in Ramer and enjoyed watching westerns, especially Gunsmoke, and watching his son work on cars. Among his favorite things to do was go to the Smoky Mountains, listen to bluegrass music, and spend time with his family and grandchildren. Mr. Doles was Pentecostal in faith.
Survivors include a daughter, Wanda West of Bolivar; two sons, James Doles (Tracy) and Billy Doles, all of Bolivar; 3 sisters, Mary Grammer, Carolyn Barclay and Doris Roberts, all of McNairy County; 10 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren. In addition to his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Tom Doles; and two sons, Gerald Doles and Larry Doles.
