RUSSELL SIMPSON
was born in Dekalb County, Alabama on January 8, 1930 the son of the late Claude Miller and Linnie Laura Jones Simpson.
On September 12, 1959 he was united in marriage to Ora Bessie Jones, who preceded her husband in death in 1993. On August 10, 1995 he was united in marriage to Sue Blount, who survives.
Russell served his country honorably in the United States Army. He retired from PCA where he worked from 1961 until 1997 where he worked as a crew leader in the shipping department. Russell was a member of Southside Baptist Church where he served as a Deacon. He loved all types of gardening, coached baseball and was an avid St. Louis Cardinals fan.
Russell departed this life on Tuesday, April 14, 2020 in Savannah, Tennessee at the age of 90 years 3 months and 6 days.
In addition to his wife of 24 years, Sue of Savannah, Tennessee, he is survived by his son, Jeff Simpson of Lexington, Tennessee; daughter, Donna Wallace of Savannah, Tennessee; stepdaughters, Vicki Lieblick of Henderson, Tennessee and Darla McKellips of Savannah, Tennessee; grandchildren, Justin Caldwell, Josh Caldwell, Trista McKellips, Nathan McKellips, Chris Gray and Corey Gray; 8 great grandchildren; and brother, Billy Joe Simpson of Azel, Texas.
Russell was preceded in death by his parents, his first wife, sisters, Iris Freeman and Claudine Moses, and one brother, Ray Simpson.
