Ruth Ann Scruggs of Waynesboro, TN was born May 29, 1939 in East Chicage, IL, the daughter of the late Slim and Viola Rachel Hedrick Hivley. She was united in marriage to Cecil Bradford Scruggs on August 30, 1958 and he preceded her in death on January 6, 2018.
Mrs. Scruggs was a homemaker and a member of the Evans Chapel Church in Waynesboro, Tennessee. She departed this life on Tuesday, May 4, 2021 at her home at the age of 81 Years, 11 Months, 5 Days.
She is survived by a son, Brad Scruggs and wife, Monica of Iron City, TN; two daughters, Beth Burns and husband, Randy of Clifton, TN and Kathy Scruggs of Altadena, CA; grandchildren, Sandy Johnson, Stephen Burns, Kyle Collins, Evan Scruggs, Anthony Scruggs, Ethan Scruggs and Madelyn Scruggs and great-grandchildren, Viola Jones, Paizley Smith, Corbin Scruggs, Max Burns, Tagg Burns, Wil Burns and Cooper Johnson.
In addition to her husband and parents, Mrs. Scruggs was preceded in death by two sisters, Donna Watts and Marilouise Elizodna.
Services will be held on Saturday, May 8, 2021 at 1:00 PM at Shackelford Funeral Directors chapel in Waynesboro, Tennessee, with Lynette Flood officiating. At her request, her body will be cremated with burial to follow in the Evans Chapel Cemetery, Waynesboro, Tennessee with Shackelford Funeral Directors assisting the family.
Visitation will be Friday, May 7, 2021 from 6 pm to 8 pm and Saturday, May 8, 2021 from 11 am to service time at the funeral home.
Her family requests that in lieu of flowers, memorial donations be given to the Janet Smith Foundation at People's Bank or the Butterfly Foundation.
