Sammy Jo Spry departed this life on Tuesday, August 7, 2018, at the age of 82 years and 27 days. She was born in Paris, Tennessee on July 11, 1936, the daughter of the late J.P. and Annie Laurie Cox. On September 3, 1972, she was united in marriage to Lee E. Spry, who survives.

Sammy Jo was the pianist and organist for Hopewell Baptist Church, where she was a member. She had also been the organist at First Baptist Church. Sammy Jo was the co-owner and secretary for Lee Spry Marine.

She is survived by her husband of 45 years, Lee E. Spry of Savannah, Tennessee; son, Robert Crawford and his wife Jeffery of Charlotte, North Carolina; stepdaughters, Sharon Spry of Savannah, Tennessee and Donna Anderson of Georgia; grandchildren, Rob Crawford III and John Crawford; step grandchildren, James Hendrix, Sarah Hendrix, Ashley Michelle Baugus, Amber Nicole Baugus and Autumn Brooks Baugus; two step-great grandchildren; brothers, Jim Cox and his wife Mary Lou of Barlowe, Kentucky and Phillip Cox and his wife Phyllis of Memphis, Tennessee.
