Mrs. Sara Maxedon
Henderson, TN: Sara Inez Harrison Thomas Maxedon, age 97, died Thursday morning December 6, 2018 at Southern Oaks Assisted Living.
Mrs. Maxedon was born and reared in Henderson, the daughter of the late Kemuel Oscar and Inez Tull Harrison. She graduated from Chester County High School in 1938 as salutatorian and later graduated from West Tennessee Business College. She married Garold Albert Thomas in 1940. She was a homemaker and did bookkeeping for several businesses. Mr. Thomas died in 1962. She married Reeder H. Maxedon I n 1968. They made their home in Henderson and she was bookkeeper for Bolton Ford Motor Company and later Maness Brothers Auto Sales. Mr. Maxdeon preceded in death in 1971. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church.
She is survived by a son Albert Thomas and wife Catherine of Diamond City, AR, three daughters Garold Vickles of Littleton, CO, Dava Hurst and husband Billy of Selmer, and Madeline Hinshaw of Smyrna, 14 grandchildren, 24 great grandchildren, and 8 great-great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by two children, Richard Thomas in 2013 and Sarah Moore in 2018, a brother Russell Harrison and a sister Myra Ray.
Funeral services will be 1:00 pm Monday at Shackelford Funeral Directors – Crook Avenue with Dr. Paul Scherier officiating. Burial will follow in Pisgah Cemetery.
The family will received friends from 11:00 am until 1:00 pm on Monday at Crook Avenue.
