Sheila Ann Rhodes Emerson was born in Jackson, TN on November 8, 1942 to Clyde and Ruth Brown Rhodes. She departed this life early Sunday morning, February 20, 2022 at Pine Meadows Healthcare Center in Bolivar.
After graduating from Jackson High School, Sheila received a Bachelor’s Degree in Education from Union University. She was active in student body life and led several campus organizations. She would later earn a Master in Education from the University of Tennessee at Knoxville. Her teaching career would span the State of Tennessee; including Knox, McMinn, Madison, and Hardeman counties.
Antiques, flowers, travels, and playing games with her family were her interest as a young adult. She taught her sons how to play Gin Rummy and Canasta. Sheila always look surprised when the boys would win. One of her lasting memories was traveling to Brazil with her father. The adventure left a great impression and challenged her to learn about different cultures. Sheila loved history and would continue to seek out the past throughout her life. She intentionally shared this passion with her family.
Survivors include a sister, Martha Pfister and husband Gene, Baton Rouge LA. Son, Matthew R. Emerson wife Kim, Hornsby. Three grandchildren Katelyn E. Emerson, Knoxville, Tn; Robert Connor Emerson, Campbell S. Emerson both of Hornsby.
In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by two sons - Robert Richards Emerson Jr. and Walter Cox Emerson.
The family would like to thank the staff and nurses at Pine Meadows in Bolivar for the care and love they have showed to Sheila over the last many years.
