Shiela Ann Yarbrough Meek of Adamsville, TN was born June 6, 1954 in Chicago, IL the daughter of the late C. A. and Celia Mae Rice Yarbrough. She was united in marriage to Bill Meek on July 1, 1978. Mrs. Meek departed this life on January 21, 2020 in Memphis, TN at the age of 65 Years, 7 Months, 15 Days
Shiela enjoyed sports, especially basketball at Morris Chapel School. As a Freshman, she went to Savannah Central and continued to play basketball on the varsity squad. She was honored to be voted Most Athletic her Senior year.
She started her adult working career at Morris Chapel School as a Secretary. Later on, she worked at a couple of garment factories before taking a fifteen year break to be a full time Mother to Ginger and Mitchell. During this time, Shiela was very active in the schools as a volunteer, reading to students, working with other mothers on the Elementary Annual Staff, who became great friends.
As her children moved into the AHS band program, she was a highly active band booster serving as a Chaperone many times and also as Treasurer of the booster program for several years.
As her children became late teenagers, Shiela started working at Central Bank in Adamsville for Gene Hannah and Doris Smith. She worked fifteen years in the banking industry serving as Head Teller for many years.
She took a short break to travel with her husband, but soon had what she considered, too much free time. She was offered an opportunity with Chris Milford as Bookkeeper and Secretary. She thoroughly enjoyed working with Chris and Cathy and was always talking about how much enjoyment she got from the job. It was not a job to her, it was fun.
In her thirties when the kids were small, Shiela spent a lot of time on the river water skiing. For a person who couldn't swim, she could ride a slalom and never get her hair wet.
In later years, Tommy Churchwell introduced her to revolvers and target shooting which she enjoyed very much. She became a very accurate shooter.
She was fortunate to be Nana and Grandma to her eight grands and took so much pleasure in their visits.
She is survived by her husband Bill Meek of Adamsville; a daughter, Ginger Meek Todd and husband Billy of Eastview, TN; a son, Mitchell Meek and wife Samantha of Adamsville, TN; eight grandchildren, Macy, Alaina, Lily, Kali, Alex, Riley, Wyatt, Catie Beth; a sister, Cynthia Davis and husband Kevin; a brother, Michael Yarbrough and wife Debbie; extended family, Tommy, Ted, Kathy, Richard and Pam, along with a host of other relatives and friends.
