Stanley McCullar

Stanley McCullar was born October 26, 1956 in Memphis, TN the son of the late Robert Stanley, Sr. and Gwen Rowland McCullar.

Stanley graduated from McNairy Central High School in 1974. He possessed a strong work ethic even while in school, taking a job at Piggly-Wiggly as a butcher and spending the summers with his grandparents in Missouri, helping on their family farm. He worked on the assembly line at Kimberly-Clark in Corinth for more than 20 years. Hunting, fishing, watching Fox News and old Westerns (especially "Gunsmoke") were among his favorite pastimes. He also enjoyed following the University of Tennessee Volunteers. Stanley served his State and Nation honorably in the Tennessee National Guard for six years and was Baptist in faith; he knew when he was saved and could clearly recall the account of his conversion. When others spoke of Stanley, they often described him as "the best" and "a great man." No matter the circumstances, he was always smiling and telling others, "don't worry-be happy!"

Stanley departed this life on November 1, 2020 in Tupelo, Mississippi at the age of 64 Years, 6 Days. He is survived by two daughters, April Cleary and husband Michael of Michie, TN and Sophie McCullar of Selmer, TN; a son, Houston McCullar of Selmer, TN; two grandchildren, Kennedy Cleary and Carter Cleary; a sister, Karla Tranum and husband Timmy of Selmer, TN; two first cousins, Carroll Smith of Selmer, TN and Carmen Rowland Hoggard of Poplar Bluff, MO; two second cousins, Van McMahan of Ramer, TN and Lin Smith of Selmer, TN; and many extended family and friends.

In addition to his parents, Stanley was preceded in death by a step-son and fishing buddy, Joey Singleton.
