Steve (T-Bone) Byrd was born on December 11, 1953 in Chicago, Illinois, the son of the late Billy Byrd and Ima Jo Betts Varnell.
On April 14, 1979, he was united in marriage to Rebecca Ward, who survives.
Steve honorably served his country from 1968-1972 in the United States Army. He worked at Hagy's Catfish Hotel in Shiloh, Tennessee and as a plant manager at ATCO Products in Palmer, Texas. Steve loved to go hunting and fishing, especially deep sea fishing. He was known as the family comedian and loved to make others laugh.
Steve (T-Bone) Byrd departed this life on August 22, 2021 in Jackson, Tennessee at the age of 67 years, 8 months, and 11 days.
He is survived by his wife of 42 years, Rebecca Byrd of Shiloh, Tennessee; sons, Jody Dewayne Smith of Shiloh, Tennessee and Jeffery Lee Smith and his wife Kim of Locust Grove, Georgia; brothers, Joe Wilkins of Crump, Tennessee and Donny Varnell of Barnesville, Georgia; grandchildren, Matthew Smith, Jade Smith, Abigail Smith, Hunter Nunn, Colton Nunn, Dalton Nunn, Jaylee Smith, Elizabeth Overbey, and Dakota Jaggers; and great grandchildren, BriggsLee Loraine Smith, Jayden Gail Smith, William Lee Carothers, Maryannah Grace Smith, and Matthew Cortlynne Smith.
In addition to his parents, Steve was preceded in death by his brother, Billy Byrd and great granddaughter Emma-Kate Christine Smith.
