Sue Mayfield
Jackson: Mattie Sue Mosier Mayfield, age 87, passed away February 4, 2018 at her home after a short illness.
She was born September 29, 1930 in Bells, TN the daughter of the late Brodie and Gracie Riggs Mosier. She grew up in the Silerton Community and attended school at Phillips School House in Chester County. She married Fritz Buford Mayfield in 1949. They lived in Chicago, IL from 1954 until 1979 and she worked at General Electric in 1979 they moved to Jackson. Mr. Mayfield passed away in 1999. She married James Johnston February 14, 2001. She was a member of the Gospel Temple Holiness Church in Jackson. She enjoyed going to Walmart daily to walk. She loved cooking and spoiling her son, Davey.
She is survived by her husband, James Johnston of Jackson and a son, Davey Keith Mayfield of Jackson; a granddaughter, Jeanette Donna Mayfield of Chicago, IL and a great granddaughter, Emily Brooke Mayfield of Jackson; two brothers, Clarence Mosier and Junior Mosier both of Henderson; four sisters, Betty Hooper of Selmer, Shirley Callahan of Rogers, AR, Peggy Callahan of Selmer and Rose King of Memphis, TN.
She was preceded in death by two sons, Larry Buford Mayfield and Michael Buford Mayfield; a grandson, Shane Keith Mayfield and two brothers, Joe Neal Hurst and Jerry Hurst.
Funeral services will be 1:30 PM Thursday, February 8, 2018 at Shackelford Funeral Directors – West Main Chapel with Darius Theus officiating. Burial will follow in Chester County Memory Gardens.
The family will receive friends at West Main 5:00 PM until 9:00 PM Wednesday.
