Tamarsha Nicole (Nikki) Bumphus

Tamarsha Nicole “Nikki” Bumphus was the only child born to Vanessa R. Thomas and Peter D. Bumphus on November 16, 1977 in Waynesboro, Tennessee. She began her education inKenosha, Wisconsin and later completed her studies at McGavock High School in Nashville, Tennessee. Nikki later completed a Certified Nursing Assistant Program. Nikki was a very active, confident, sassy and fun-loving Diva. She was no stranger to helping others and was generous and loving to all those she loved and would give you the shirt off her back if needed. Although she had a gentle and giving heart she was also known for the assertiveness in her voice when she spoke and the strong protective nature that she expressed for those she loved. As a dedicated and selfless mother and grandmother, she made several sacrifices to meet the needs of her family. Nikki loved to travel and was always very adventurous. She was a very strong and devoted mother to her 3 children but also served as a mother figure to many. She was known as “Big Nik” to the youth. Nikki was a busybody like her mother and chose to live every moment like it was her last. She was also known for being a big daddy’s girl. She will be remembered as a l devoted daughter, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, niece, cousin and friend. She will be sorely missed but fondly remembered. She was truly one of a kind who meant so very much to many people. She leaves behind a legacy of love, kindness, selflessness and laughter that will live on through her family, who cherished every moment they were blessed to spend with her. Nikki leaves to cherish her loving memories, three devoted children: Andree, Devontre and Armani Bumphus; loving parents: Vanessa Thomas and Peter Bumphus; two sisters: Asia Thomas and Clarissa Churchwell; five brothers: Nathanel Carson, O’rian Thomas, Llyod Thomas, Jr., Peter Churchwell and Darrell Churchwell; five grandchildren: Aundrea Bumphus, Kayden Johnson, Andrees Bumphus, Dalen Risby and Adree’sTyree Bumphus; 18 nieces and nephews; a special cousin, Latoya Martin who referred to her as Mother, as well as a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, family and friends. Nikki was preceded in death by maternal grandparents: Jessie Witherspoon, Imogene Fladger, Mr. William and Virginia Bumphus; and uncles: Jessie E. Weatherspoon, Phillip Witherspoon, William Bumphus, Jr., Victor Bumphus and Duren Bumphus.
