Thelma Lee Lard Bevis

Thelma Lee Lard Bevis made her entrance into her heavenly home on Friday, February 8, 2019, at the age of 86 years 3 months and 2 days. She was born in Lauderdale County, Alabama on November 6, 1932, the daughter of William McKinley Lard and Christine Curry Lard. On May 15, 1948, she was united in marriage to Earnest Calvin Bevis.

Thelma was a wonderful cook and loved living life on their farm. She loved gardening, raising her children and worked so hard at Savannah Manufacturing Company for 40 years. Because she was the primary caretaker of her husband in his failing health, they were unable to attend church in their later years, but she always looked forward to the faithful people that brought church to their home on Saturdays. Thelma loved listening to gospel music.

She leaves behind three children, Linda Bevis Cooler and husband, Allen, James Carl Bevis and wife, Donna, and Charles Bevis and wife, Lisa; grandchildren Tammy Cummings Thomas and husband, Kevin, Jeff Cummings and wife, Janeanna, Miriam Bevis Farris and husband, Chris, Zach Bevis and wife, Abbey, Casey Bevis and wife, Holly. 14 great-grandchildren, Cydney, Megan, Natalie and Cameron Thomas, Carson and Ryder Cummings, Clara, Audrianna, Enoch and Elijah Farris, Caroline and James Wyatt Bevis and Avery and Griffin Bevis. She is survived by three sisters, Edith Roberts, Gladys Lard and Wanda Lard and six brothers, Ralph, Mack, Billy, Thomas, Paul and Jerry Lard. She was preceded in death by her husband, Earnest, her parents and three brothers, Preston, Gerald and David Lard and two grandchildren, Jeremy Carl and Celestial Dawn Bevis.
