Thelma Hazlegrove Sumler, 86, of Pocahontas, passed away Friday, October 16, 2020 at Baptist Hospital in Memphis.

She was born October 17, 1933 in Silerton, daughter of the late Andrew Monroe Willis and Nema Tull Willis Ballard and lived in Indiana for about 30 years prior to moving back here around 1980. She married Billy Gene Hazlegrove in 1952 and he preceded her in death in 1986. In 1992, she married Brodie Sumler, and he passed away in 2015. She was a homemaker and enjoyed gardening, working puzzles and making jams and jellies. Known as a very 'giving person', her family states that she preached her own funeral and loved them dearly. She was a long time member of Pocahontas Baptist Church, a family she loved greatly.

In addition to her husbands and parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, Deloyed Willis; a step brother, Billy Ballard, a step sister, Margaret Hooper and a granddaughter, Jessica Hazlegrove.
