THERESA BENSON
Reagan, TN: Theresa Lois Benson age 84, passed away March 3, 2022 at Jackson Madison County General Hospital.
She was born April 10, 1937 in Cedar View, MS, the daughter of the late Perry and Juanita Sullivan Vaughn. She grew up in Olive Branch, MS, after High School she earned a BSN Degree in nursing. She worked for several Doctors in Memphis in the early 60’s, before becoming an Industrial Nurse for Cleo Wrap in Memphis where she retired in 2005, after thirty-five years.
She married J. W. Benson on September 10, 1958 and they enjoyed sixty-four years together.
She attended Union Hill Baptist Church at Reagan.
In her early years she enjoyed loved raising and riding horses. She won many accolades during her riding days. She enjoyed working in her yard and her flower beds. She loved to show off her beautiful flowers. She was a loving and devoted wife, mother and grandmother, who loved her family and enjoyed spending time with her kids and grandkids.
Mrs. Benson is survived by her husband, J.W. Benson of Reagan; a daughter, Vonda Benson of Holly Springs, MS; two grandchildren, Joseph Burton (Crystal), Chazz Garner, three great-grandchildren, Kirsten McVey (Tim), Ava Brewer and Asher Brewer and one great-great-grandchild, Easton Graves; three brothers, Curtis Vaughn (Marlyn) of Oakland, TN, Larry Vaughn of Olive Branch, MS and Darryl Vaughn (Kathy) of Hernando, MS and a sister, Ovitta Vaughn of Oakland, TN.
She was preceded in death by her parents, two sons, Carter Benson and Jimmy Benson and a daughter, Seleda Burton; four sisters, Cozette Snyder, Sandy Hopper, Bonita Vaughn and Wanda Faye Plant.
Funeral services will be 11:00 AM Saturday, March 5th at Shackelford Funeral Directors – Crook Avenue Chapel with Derrick Jowers and Bobby Rushing officiating. Burial will follow in Benson Family Cemetery at Reagan, TN.
The family will receive friends at Crook Avenue 9:00 AM until 11:00 AM on Saturday.
