Thurston Roosevelt Harper was born January 25, 1935 in Hamilton, AL, the son of the late George Ben and Julia Stidham Harper. Mr. Harper was retired from IMC but had managed Florence Farmer's Market for approximately 12 years. He was a member of the First Assembly of God in Florence, Alabama and was an avid UNA fan.
Mr. Harper departed this life on Friday, March 22, 2019 at his home at the age of 84 Years, 1 Month, 25 Days.
He is survived by his wife, Ellean Littleton Harper of Florence, AL; a son, Tracy Harper of Florence, AL; daughters, Vicky Martin of Iron City, TN, Cindy Richards of Decatur, AL and Kim Harper of Florence, AL; grandchildren, Anthony, Tyler and Makenzie; great-grandchildren, Eli and Knox and a special pet, Spunkee; a brother, Monroe Harper of Wetumpka, AL; sisters, Lee Hamilton of Rockford, AL and Hilda Kelly of Wetumpka, AL; nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Harper was preceded in death by brothers, Felix , Everett and Paskil Harper and sisters, Nettie Gann, Estelle Jones and Deaner Hayes.
Services will be Tuesday, March 26, 2019 at 1:00 PM at Shackelford Funeral Directors chapel, Collinwood, Tennessee, with Anthony Martin and Darrin English officiating. Burial will follow in Railroad Cemetery, Iron City, Tennessee with Shackelford Funeral Directors, Collinwood, TN directing. Visitation will be Monday, March 25, 2019 from 5 pm to 8 pm and Tuesday, March 26, 2019 from 10 am until service time at the funeral home.
Pallbearers will be Sammy Martin, Tyler Martin, Charles Martin, Greg Harper, Ricky Jackson and Wendell Jones.
