TOMMIE DUBERRY MAYFIELD
Finger, TN: Tommie Norma Duberry Mayfield age 89 passed away Monday November 3, 2014 at Jackson Madison County General Hospital.
She was born January 4, 1925 in Chester County the daughter of the late John Rubin and Lela Mamie Dickey Duberry. She attended school in Chester County and was married to Walter Mayfield on November 1, 1941. They lived in Chicago from 1954 until 1962 and returned to Henderson in 1962. She worked with Walter at the Truck Stop for several years, B & B Dry Goods and then she and Walter operated Mayfield Shoe Store and Repair, after closing the store she did private duty setting. She was a life long member of the congregation at Estes Church of Christ, and a member of the former Harmony Home Demonstration Club.
Mrs. Mayfield is survived by two daughters, Alma Gordon and husband John of Water Valley, MS and Anita Mayfield of Finger, TN; four grandchildren, Terri Lynn, Bobbie, Klyi and Harlee; thirteen great grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren; and a brother, Omer Duberry of Henderson.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Walter Mayfield, January 6, 2013 and one grandson, Robert Maness, Jr., a sister, Betty Moody and a brother, J.D. Lewis.
Funeral services will be 2:00 PM Thursday at Estes Church of Christ with Bro. Roy Sharp and Bro. B. J. Naylor officiating and burial will follow in Old Estes Cemetery.
The family will receive friends at Shackelford Funeral Directors – Johnson Chapel 5:00 PM until 9:00 PM on Wednesday and beginning at 8:00 AM on Thursday morning until 1:30 PM going to the church.
