Venita Ruth (Watson) Woods, 96, of Enville, Tennessee, peacefully
departed this world, Thursday, February 3, 2022 at her home in Enville, Tennessee.
Born February 2, 1926 in Octa, Missouri, daughter to the late Willaim Edwin Watson
and Willie Pratt (Oliver) Watson.
On March 16, 1946, she was united in marriage to R.D. Woods in Piggott, Arkansas.
Together they formed and raised a family in Southeast, Missouri until 1964, where
they relocated to St. Louis, Missouri. There, she worked at Lutheran Hospital until
retiring in 1985. After retiring, Venita and R.D. moved to Malden, Missouri, where
they lived together until R.D. passed in July of 2002. In 2009, she moved to Clio,
Michigan and resided there until 2018 where she then moved to Enville, Tennessee
with daughter, Vickie, for the remainder of her life. While living in Clio, she was a
member of the Mt. Morris Church of Christ. She was also a member of the Estes
Church of Christ in Henderson, Tennessee. Her greatest enjoyment was spending
time and making memories with whom she loved the most. She also loved spending
time gardening and growing beautiful flowers.
Survivors include one daughter, Vickie Parker and husband, Dan of Enville,
Tennessee; one son, Gary Woods and wife, Sherri of St. Louis, Missouri; four
grandchildren, Rick (Kim) Parker, Jason Woods, Kelly (Dave) Cover and Michelle
(Kent) Jensen. Also surviving, seven great-grandchildren, Craig, Courtney, Makon,
Justin, Lauren, Colton, and Ethan; one brother, Paul (Ann) Watson; one sister-in-law,
Ruth Ann Watson; one brother-in-law, Tom Yates and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 56 years, R.D. Woods; one son, Robert
D. (Jackie) Woods; one brother Curt Watson; and four sisters, Dorothy (M.J.)
Reaves, Dean (Lindy) Belew, Jo Ann Yates and Terry (Ken) Hudgens.
Visitation will be held 6 - 8 p.m., Friday, February 11, 2022 at Landess Funeral
Chapel in Malden. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m., Saturday, February 12,
2022 at Landess Funeral Chapel in Malden with Minister Jim Watson officiating.
Burial will follow in the Memorial Park Cemetery in Malden.
Pallbearers are Rick Parker, Jason Woods, Kent Jenson, Chris Stoverink, Ed Oliver
and Brian Watson. Honorary pallbearers are Craig Dixon, Brandon Pope, Justin
Woods, Andrew Spence, Colton Woods, and Ethan Jenson.
