Virgil Kirk Skelton

Virgil Kirk Skelton, was born October 27, 1938 in Waynesboro, TN the son of the late Obie Kirk Skelton and Bessie M. Whitehead Skelton Potete. Mr. Skelton owned and operated Skelton's " Good n Handy" off the square for many years, he served as an elected Magistrate for the 3rd. District in Wayne County in the 70's and served his country in the United States Navy.

He was united in marriage to Jo Evelyn Bates on February 6, 1960. Mrs. Skelton preceded him in death on September 3, 2013.

Mr. Skelton departed this life on September 8, 2021 in Columbia, Tennessee at the age of 82 Years, 10 Months, 12 Days.

He is survived by sons, Terry K. Skelton, wife Carol of Collinwood, TN, Bart H. Skelton wife Jennifer of Fairview, TN; daughters, Celena Spiva, husband Phillip of Clarksville, TN, Monica Wells, husband John of Columbia, TN; grandchildren, Heather Spiva McGee, Erica Spiva, Natalie Brewer, Kayla (Brewer) Castro, Marley Skelton, Elijah Skelton, Savannah Skelton, Rylan Skelton, Josh Pope and Drake Homaker; sister, Mable Joyce Tuvreson of Mount Juliet, TN.

In addition to his wife and parents, Mr. Skelton was preceded in death by brothers, Jimmy C Skelton and, Gerald T. Skelton, sisters, Loretta Burgess and Nancy Langford.

Visitation will be on Saturday, September 11, 9:30 am until service time at Shackelford Funeral Home, Waynesboro

Services will be held on Saturday, September 11, 2021 at 11:00 AM at Shackelford Funeral Directors, Waynesboro, Tennessee, with Ricky Kelley officiating. Burial will follow in Skelton Cemetery, Waynesboro, Tennessee with Shackelford Funeral Directors assisting the family
