VIRGINIA BROWN DICUS
Henderson, TN: Bessie Virginia Brown Dicus age 79 passed away June 30 at Henderson Health & Rehabilitation Center.
She was born November 20, 1939 in Caruthersville, MO, the daughter of the late James Estell and Alene Pollock Brown. She married Roy ‘J.D.’ Dicus October 20, 1954. They traveled at lot with Mr. Dicus work, while she was a homemaker and mother. They moved to the Rocky Knob community in McNairy County in 1982.
She was a Christian and loved the Lord. She was a member of the Second Baptist Church in Selmer.
She was a wonderful mother, grandmother and was a great cook. In her latter years she would set with the elderly. She enjoyed embroidering and quilting.
Mrs. Dicus is survived by three sons, James Dicus (Diana) of Sun City, FL, Jeff Dicus (Janet) of Tuscumbia, AL and Ricky Dicus (Elva) of Clifton, TN and three daughters, Joan Haynes (Harley) of Mott, ND, Jenny Parsons (Tom) of Milledgeville and Judy Moore (Rudy) of Finger, TN; fifteen grandchildren and a host of great grandchildren; a brother, Dennis Brown of Southaven, MI and sisters, Claire, Venita, Barbara, Patricia, Sharon and Birdie.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Roy ‘J.D.’ Dicus April 16, 1988, a granddaughter that she raised, Mandy Futch and a granddaughter, Amy Haynes and also three brothers, Ralph Brown, Randall Brown and Louis Brown.
Funeral services will be 2:00 PM Friday at Shackelford Funeral Directors – Crook Avenue with Ken Kitchen officiating. Burial will follow at Rocky Knob Cemetery.
The family will receive friends at Crook Avenue 12 Noon until 2:00 PM Friday service time.
