Virginia "Granny" King, 87, of bolivar, passed away Saturday, October 5, 2019 at Pine Meadows Healthcare Center in Bolivar.
A native of McNairy County, she was born September 13, 1932 in McNairy County, daughter of the late John and Cora Jenkins Burns and lived all of her life in Hardeman County. She worked in housekeeping at Western Mental Health Institute and then for Bolivar General Hospital, retiring from there. She enjoyed working word search puzzles, and cooking for the public, working at Jacobs Restaurant in Hornsby, dancing, gospel singing and being around her family. Mrs. King was a member of Hatchie Baptist and Second Baptist Church.
Survivors include four daughters, Linda K. Waldrop of Selmer, Tracy Farris (Danny) of Hornsby, Brenda Waldrop Helton of Kremmling, CO and Stacy Spencer (Donnie) of Bolivar; two sons, Ricky Waldrop (Wanda) of Selmer and Jeff "Soda Pop" Waldrop of Middleton; and several grandchildren & great grandchildren. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a daughter, Reba Henderson, 3 sons, Charles, Bobby and Michael Waldrop; 2 brothers, J.L. and Ed Burns; and 3 sisters, Magdaline Browder, Dorotha Bright and Elma Gladish.
