Mrs. Stewart passed away Saturday afternoon at her home in Bolivar.
She was born in Hardeman County and lived most all of her life here except for a time when she lived in Alcorn Co., MS. A homemaker, she was a member of Abundant Life Christian Fellowship Church in Bolivar. Mrs. Stewart is described by her family as a saintly woman who believed in practicing what she preached.
In her leisure time, she enjoyed playing, singing and writing gospel music. For a time, she was a member of "Heirborn", a gospel singing group and even recorded a CD. She also enjoyed Jimmy Swaggart broadcasts.
She is survived by son, David Newman of Bolivar; daughter, Deanna (Frankie) Howell of Bolivar; son, Terry Frank (Deborah) Newman of Adamsville; daugther, Brenda Joan (Kennie) Bivens of Jackson; daughter, Paula Annette (Gary) Lowry of Bartlett; daughter, Tammy Roxanne (Alan) Kemper of Milan and son, Anthony Joel Newman of Bolivar; 11 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a son, Johnny C. Newman and a daughter-in-law, Kathy Maria Ulianna Newman and her mother, Maude Wilbanks. She also deeply loved and respected her step-grandfather, Frederick Monroe Mills.
