Mr. Walter L. Darling, age 79, of Pochontas, departed this life early Wednesday morning, July 24, 2019 at McNairy County Health and Rehabilitation Center in Selmer.
Mr. Darling was born Tuesday, September 12, 1939, to the late Earl Brewer Darling and Bertha Elmer Hodum Darling in Tippah County, Mississippi. Walter was Methodist in faith and attended Oak Grove Independent Methodist Church in Pocahontas, TN.
He loved fishing, hunting, and collecting odds and ends and making things out of them. He was a jack of all trades and loved to fix anything. Walter served in the U.S. Army and worked in contruction all of his life until he became sick. He lived most of his life in Hardeman County and a short time in Illinois.
He is survived by three sisters, Annie Mae Russell, Faye Darling Crocker (Charles), and Betty Darling Jackson, all of Pocahontas; two brothers, Thomas Edward "Tommy" Darling of Pocahontas, and Kenneth Wayne Darling (Kay) of Middleton; and a sister-in-law, Marjie Darling.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by three brothers, William Rosco Darling, Robert Earl Darling, and Georgie Lee Darling.
