Wanda S. Hicks Lenz Hartney departed this life on March 29, 2019 in Jackson, Tennessee at the age of 64 Years, 2 Months, 28 Days.

Wanda was born in Michigan City, Indiana the daughter of the late Joseph Earl Hicks and Martha Sue Nelson Hicks David. She was a long-distance truck driver for 14 years, before and after truck-driving she was a stay-at mother. She enjoyed the outdoors, fishing with friends, cooking for her loved ones and coloring.

Wanda loved everyone, she went above and beyond the call of mother and friend. If someone was in need, she made sure that need was met. She loved her family dearly and spending time with them was precious.

She married Leroy Hartney on May 5, 1985. In 1986, they moved to Savannah and different places in and around West Tennessee raising their family and caring for many other children.

Wanda is survived by two sons, Joseph Hicks and wife Tessa of Tupelo, MS, and Christopher Hartney of Jackson, TN; brother, Dennis Hicks of Three Oaks, MI; an adoptive daughter, Valorie and husband, William Murphy, Jr. of Tupelo, MS; an adoptive son, Erick and Aaron Mendro Pickens of Savannah, TN; cousins that she loved as her own kids, John Shannon Hicks, Steven Hicks, and Melissa Hicks Moon all of Savannah, TN; grandchildren, Joshua and Tatum Rinks, Jennifer Rinks, Tosha and Kelby Patterson, Destiny Hicks, Nakenzie Weston, Brandon Fair, Summer Murphy, Thomas Owens, Noah Murphy and unborn grandchild of Valorie and William; adoptive grandchildren, Gabriella (Gabby), Lacey (LayLay) and Landyn (Clyde) all of Savannah, TN; and fishing buddy, William Murphy, Sr.

In addition to her husband and parents, Mrs. Lenz was preceded in death by stepfather, Norman David; brother, Steve Hicks; special cousins, John Wayne Hicks, David W. Hicks, Jennifer Hicks Bauer and Richard Hall.
