Wanna Faye Crouse

Wanna Faye Crouse was born in Chester County TN on September 12, 1933 to James Euther Holmes and Graple Johnson Holmes. She was married to Billy Gene Crouse on February 23, 1952. They lived in Tennessee and Illinois and moved back to Henderson in 1968 with their three daughters, Rhonda, Libby, and Lisa.

During her life in Henderson Wanna Faye worked at Chester Manufacturing, WHHM radio, Goodwin Manufacturing, Casey Office Supply, Henderson Chamber of Commerce, and Chester County Co-op. Upon her retirement she concentrated on gardening and cooking.

Wanna Faye was well known for the beautiful display of flowers in her yard. Much in demand were her fried pies and peanut brittle that she and Billy made. Making and delivering her delicious homemade soup and pleasing the grandchildren and great grandchildren with her chocolate gravy and biscuits was something she loved to do.

She was an encourager, a loving wife, mother, sister. She and Billy were married 54 years when he died in 2006. She was a member of Victory Baptist Church.

She is survived by three daughters: Rhonda Robertson (Mike) of Jackson, Libby Watkins (William) of Henderson, Lisa Sumler (Eddie) of Bath Springs; four grandchildren: Hunter Robertson (Christy) of Adamsville, Travis Robertson (Mandy) of Jackson, Weston Watkins (Whitney) of Henderson, Macy Sumler of Bath Springs and six great grandchildren, Mitchel Robertson (Courtney), Andrew Robertson, Christian Robertson, Trinity Robertson, Jon Carter Robertson, Karlie Joyner.

She is also survived by brother’s James Holmes (Jeannie) Mishawaka IN, Jack Holmes (Zan) Jackson. Sisters, Inez Etheridge, Linden TN, Darlene Reeves (Jerry) Wichita, KS, Janice Crouse, Pinson TN and her best friend, Judy Clayton of McNairy. Wanna Faye leaves behind a host of nieces and nephews and sisters in law and brother in law.

She was preceded in death by her parents, by brothers Harold Holmes, Donald Earl Holmes, Tony Holmes, Mack Holmes. Sisters Mozelle Crouse, Bonnie Hudson.

The family would like to express our appreciation to Henderson Health and Rehab, and to her wonderful caretakers for making her last days as comfortable as possible. She loved her CNAs and nurses, as did we. Thank you.

Funeral services will be 11:00 AM Wednesday at Shackelford Funeral Directors – Crook Avenue with Ronnie Geary and Jerry McCorkle officiating. Burial will follow in Chester County Memory Gardens.

The family will receive friends at Crook Avenue 5 PM until 8 PM on Tuesday.

The family requests in lieu of flowers donations be made to the Chester County Library or the American Cancer Society.
