Will Dee McClain was born January 19, 1933 in McNairy County. He was the son of the late Dalton McClain and Irene Willis McClain. He graduated from Selmer Highschool in 1951 and went on to play football one year at North East Community College. He joined the Navy soon after and served our country for four years. After returning from the service, Will D. started his career of truck driving, and he retired in 1991 from Roadway Express. He was a member of the Master Masons, Scottish Rites and Shriners. He was united in marriage to Wanda McEarl on March 17, 1956. He enjoyed wagon riding, spending time with family and reading the paper.
Mr. McClain departed this life on August 30, 2017 at the age of 84 years, seven months, and eleven days. He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Wanda; three children, Loretta McClain Fowler, Michael McClain, and Kathy McClain; three grandchildren: Chanda and husband Andy Davis, Callie Forman and Fiance Mark Allison, and Macy Oldham and Fiance Michael Ruffino; four great grandchildren: Aidan Davis, Cooper Davis, Kenli Bingham, and Cates Allison; and one brother, Joe Dan McClain.
In addition to his parents, Will D. was preceded in death by seven brothers: Ben, Glen, Freeman, Opal, Earl, Carl, and J.R. McClain.
