Graveside services for Mr. Pope, who died Sunday evening at the Jackson-Madison County General Hospital, are to be scheduled and will be posted as they become available.
Born in Memphis on Saturday, January 12, 1946, he was the son of the late William Harvard Pope, Sr. and Rosemary Storms Pope of Grand Junction and was Valedictorian of his High School Class there in 1963. Mr. Pope was a 1967 graduate of the University of Tennessee at Knoxville where he received his Bachelor of Science degree. He went on the work as an Agricultural Economist. In his spare time, he enjoyed being a little league baseball coach, Sunday school teacher and devoted father. Mr. Pope was a Presbyterian in belief.
Among his survivors are his son, Trey Pope and his wife, Sarah, of St. Louis; his daughter, Heather Marie Mercer and her husband, Clay, of Little Rock; his sister, Pat Pope of Bolivar; and three grandchildren, William Henry Mercer, Liam Pope and Olivia Pope.
Memorials may be sent to the charity of the donor's choice.
