Rev. Burns passed away Tuesday morning, July 24, 2018 at Jackson-Madison County General Hospital.
A native of Covington, he was born March 26, 1955 the son of the late James Wilburn and Wilma Louise Vandiver Burns. He also was preceded in death by his first wife, Linda Mize Burns in February, 2013; three brothers, James Alvin, Ernest and Paul David Burns; a great-grandchild, Addlyn Noel Pierce; and two step-sons, John Leslie and Bradley Lewis Hayes.
On November 19, 2013, he was united in marriage to Glenda Burns, who survives. Rev. Burns was a member of The Church of God on Tabernacle Road in Covington and also worked at McNairy County Healthcare Center and as a roofer. He served his country in the US Army from 1974-76. Having lived in Tipton County most of his life, he also had resided in Hornsby and in Jackson. In his spare time, he enjoyed fishing, taking care of his farm animals, country living and reading his Bible. Rev. Burns loved his family and his God.
In addition to his wife, he leaves his daughter, Tina Burns Nelson of Bolivar; his son, Larry Wade Burns, Sr. of Toone; three step-daughters, Amanda (James) Laws, Carissa Brown and Angela (Joshua) Lawrence, all of Jackson; a step-son, Steven (Amy) Hayes of Moscow, TN; three sisters, Velma Lowrance of Hornsby, Evelyn Glass of Covington and Brenda Rogers of Ripley, TN; 19 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.
Memorials may be sent to the American Heart Association or the National Kidney Foundation.
