Mr. Garrett passed away Sunday morning, September 30, 2018.
A native and life-long resident of Bolivar and Hardeman County, he was the son of the late William J. Garrett, Sr. and Willie Lou Doles Garrett Hannis, who survives. Mr. Garrett was retired co-owner/operator, along with his mother, of 3-Way Grocery in Bolivar. In his earlier years, he had also worked as a brick mason. Mr. Garrett served in the Tennessee National Guard and was a member of Walnut Grove Bapist Church. In his leisure time, he enjoyed gun and knife collecting, motorcycles, cars and duck hunting.
In addition to his mother, survivors include his wife of 34 years, Mary Lee Edwards Garrett of Bolivar; daughter, Sandy Garrett of Memphis; sons, Wayne Garrett of Jackson and Jason (Nicki) Garrett of Selmer; step-sons, Don (Melinda) Roe of Jackson and Josh (Mary Beth) Roe of Chattanooga, TN; sisters, Brenda (Johnny) Howell of Bolivar and Patricia (William) Tigner of Hornsby; brother, Charles (Susan Francisco) Garrett of Paradise Valley, AZ; six grandchildren, Caroline, Patrick, Elijah, Valerie, and Michael Garrett and Max Roe; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his father; sister, Betty Garrett; brother, William J. Garrett, Jr.; step-father, Redus Hannis, Jr.; and nephew, Wade Tigner.
