William W. "Bill" Johnson

William W. "Bill" Johnson, age 91 of Middleton, Tennessee, departed this life Wednesday, July 4, 2018 in Selma, Alabama, where he lived the last three years of his life.

A native of Lexington, Alabama, he was born Tuesday, September 21, 1926 to the late John Hurley and Bertha Belue Johnson. On Saturday, March 8, 1952, he was united in marriage to Jewell "Judy" Shannon Johnson, who preceded him in death May 18, 2017.

Bro. Johnson was minister in the church of Christ for over 50 years for various congregations in the South. Over the span of his life and career, he lived in Kentucky, Tennessee and Alabama and traveled many other places. He enjoyed gardening and reading, and he particularly loved visiting people.

Survivors include his daughters, Denise McLemore (Thomas) of Selma, Alabama, and Dianne Morgan (Scott) of Noblesville, Indiana; a brother, Larry Johnson of Lexington, Alabama; and ten grandchildren, 24 great grandchildren and 3 great great grandchildren.

In addition to his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by a daughter, Gayle Marie Hobbs; sisters, Mary Best and Doris Bowman; and brothers, John Johnson and Fred Johnson.

Charitable contributions made in Bro. Johnson's memory may be sent to the Red Walnut Church of Christ, 145 Red Walnut Road, Bath Springs, TN 38311.
