YONDELL ROLLIE GEARY
Services for Yondell Rollie Geary, 81, will be Monday June 1st at 11:00 AM at Cave Springs Baptist Church near Henderson with Bro. Ronnie Geary and Bro. Danny Geary officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
Mr. Geary went home to be with the Lord on Thursday evening May 28, 2020 at Madison County General Hospital after ongoing illnesses. He was born in Louisville, Ky. on Oct 13, 1938, the son of the late James Melvin Geary and Beatrice Phelps Geary. His parents, he and his siblings move to California for a short time and moved to Jackson, TN in 1951. He began working at Conalco Consolidated Aluminum Corporation in 1955 and retired 45 years later in 2000. Born 75% deaf in his left ear and 100% deaf in his right ear he later became the first graduate of The West Tennessee Hearing School. He overcame many obstacles to become an outstanding worker, husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather and Christian. He surrendered to preach early in his life and filled many pulpits for many years. He was a born again Christian and a member of Cave Springs Baptist church.
Mr. Geary married Patsy (Caraway) Geary on Nov 30, 1957 in Corinth Mississippi. They made their home in Jackson, TN until the early 60’s when they moved to Henderson, Tennessee. In 1971 they moved to the Montezuma community where he and his wife Patsy, who passed away in 1996, raised 3 sons. He continued to live there until 1998.
Mr. Geary is survived by his three sons, Mark, Danny and wife Linda, and Bryan and wife Amanda, his siblings Ronnie Geary and wife Pam and Patricia Davidson and husband Glenn. He also leaves 8 grandchildren, Caleb Geary, Kelsey Geary, Kyle Geary, Caitlin Geary, Eryn Tolley, Lauren Geary, Nathan Geary, and Andrew Geary and 3 great grandchildren. Preceding him in death was his wife Patsy Geary, his father, James Melvin Geary, his mother, Beatrice Geary and his sister, Yvonne Geary.
April 21, 2000 Mr. Geary married Stella Rose. They made their home in the Beech Bluff community until his death. A special thanks to his wife for her love and care for him during the many sicknesses he developed later in life. Along with Stella he leaves step-sons, Robert Kenyon and Jeffrey Kenyon and step-daughter, Laurie Huskins, eight step-grandchildren and six step-great grandchildren.
Mr. Geary was a true Christian and dedicated husband, father and brother. His hobbies included going to church, reading his Bible and watching sports. He also spent his later years repairing lawn equipment in his shop.
A special thanks to caregivers Alta, Rose and Bea during Mr. Geary’s illness. Also thank you to the doctors and nurses at West Tennessee Health Care for the special treatment given to Mr. Geary during his stays at your facility. Words cannot express the family’s gratitude.
The family will receive friends at Shackelford Funeral Directors Crook Avenue Chapel 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM Sunday and Monday from 8:00 AM until 10:30 AM.
