ZOLA KINCHEN
Henderson, TN: Zola Mae Kinchen age 97, passed away August 5, 2021 at her home.
She was born August 16, 1923 in Madison County, the daughter of the late Arthur and Anna Bawcum Long. She grew up in Madison County and attended schools there. She married Joe Harvey Kinchen on April 5, 1946 and they made their home in Henderson.
She worked at Chester County Sportswear and Brown Shoe Factory. Her last work for many years was to look after her grandchildren, her most rewarding work.
She was very active in church ministries and was a member of the Christ Community Church in Henderson.
Mrs. Kinchen is survived by a son, David Northcutt and wife Joan of Corinth, MS; three daughters, Judith Hindman of Henderson, Diane Thomas of Nashville and Phyllis Brown and husband Austin of Henderson; twelve grandchildren and twenty eight great grandchildren and eight great-great grandchildren; a sister, Sue Barca of Folsom, LA.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Joe Harvey Kinchen, Sr. (2007); her son, Joe Harvey Kinchen, Jr. and a granddaughter, Tina Shelby; and four brothers, Leray Long, Loy Long, Tom Long and James Long and three sisters, Sarah Smith, Viola Hendrix and Sadie Darrow.
Funeral services will be 2:00 PM Monday, August 9th at Shackelford Funeral Directors – Crook Avenue with Pastor Michael Rickenbaker and Pastor Jonathan McElhaney officiating. Burial will follow in Highland Memorial Gardens in Jackson.
The family will receive friends at Crook Avenue 5 PM until 8 PM on Sunday.
