Zuline Newsom

Iva Zuline Newsom 93 of Jackson, TN formerly of Masseyville, TN for many years passed away peacefully June 21, 2020 surrounded by her daughters.  She was born February 8, 1927 in Hornsby, TN to Luther and Rhoda Stanley.
She had one son William (Bill) Preston Newsom who predeceased her, a daughter-in-law (Madge) who survives and two daughters who survive her Pamela Newsom (Barney) and Iva Jones (Roy) of Jackson, TN.  She is survived by her two grandsons Rodney Clinton Newsom (Beth) and Cory Matthew Jones (Liesl) one great granddaughter Avery Celeste Newsom and one great grandson Seth Berry (Alyssa).  She is also survived by one nephew Kenneth Stanley (Patty) and four nieces Brenda Wilson (Arlis), Barbara Douglas (Danny), Kay German (Billy) and Rita Rosser (Jack).
Zuline was predeceased by her parents, her husband of twenty-five years Thomas Preston Newsom, five brothers William Preston Stanley, JC Stanley (Lois), James Laird Stanley, Homer Lee Stanley and infant twin, two sisters Virginia May Stanley and infant twin Stanley and a nephew Roger Stanley.
Zuline will be remembered as a great cook that always had a huge meal ready for company.  She also enjoyed vegetable gardening, canning and freezing vegetables from her garden, flower gardening, sewing and quilting.  Several years ago when she was in better health she volunteered at St. Mary's Jackson, TN helping to make blessing quilts for local hospitals.
Visitation will be held  on Wednesday, June 24, 2020 from 9:30 am until service at 11 am all held at Shackelford Funeral Home in Selmer, TN with Bro. Don Prescott officiating. Burial will be at Wyatt Cemetery Hornsby, TN. Family requests for those coming for visitation and service, to please observe social distancing when able and wearing a mask is appreciated.
