Aaron Bell

March 12, 1996 — February 20, 2013

Aaron Bell, who in the face of cancer won the hearts of students, teachers, and a community, died Wednesday, February, 20, 2013, at the age of 16 years, 11 months, 8 days.

Aaron McCullough Bell was born in Homewood, Alabama on March 12, 1996, the son of Christopher and Kristie McCullough Bell.

Aaron was a member of East End United Methodist Church where he was an active participant in their youth group. His love of God led to his membership in the Fellowship of Christian Athletes at Hardin County High School where he was a junior. An Honors Path Student, he earned straight As throughout middle school and high school and planned on majoring in Biomedical Engineering at Mississippi State University after graduation. His extra-curricular activities included memberships on the high school Golf Team, Trap Team, Grilling Team and Student Council as well as the TGA Junior Tour. He also loved to snow ski, turkey hunt, and go on trips with his family and friends.

Aaron the Amazing, as he was nicknamed by his family, was named the Vince Gill Volunteer of the Year, an award given annually to the member of the Toyota TGA Junior Tour who embodies a giving spirit and commitment. His battle with cancer and his time at St. Jude made him very aware and supportive of their mission. He was active with St. Jude’s “Hunting for a Cure—Youth Turkey Hunt” as both a committee member and volunteer and received awards for the money amounts he raised as well as for bringing in the biggest bird. Their Memphis Marathon weekend found him there, participating as a member of “Team Aaron”.

Aaron is survived by his parents, Chris and Kristie Bell of Savannah, Tennessee; grandparents, Billy and Judy McCullough of Savannah, Tennessee, Bill and Evelyn Bell of Belmont, Mississippi; great grandmother, Anna "Little Momma" Qualls of Savannah, Tennessee; uncles and aunt, Trent and Betty McCullough of Savannah, Tennessee; uncle, Craig Bell of Belmont, Mississippi; cousins, Ben, Georgiann, Christian, and Allison all of Savannah, Tennessee, Halie, Hannah, and Harison all of Belmont, Mississippi.

As Aaron said on his Facebook page,"Words don't describe how awesome I am." I think we all would agree.
