ALBERT “FAT BOY” STRICKLAND

Henderson, TN: Albert Strickland, age 67, passed away at his home on July 19, 2026, surrounded by his family.

He was born in Ansted, West Virginia on December 21, 1958, son of the late Orval Oral and Bertha Esta Neff Strickland.

Albert was a man who loved wood and spent over half his life being a carpenter. If you ever needed anything fixed, hand it over to Fat boy, he could fix it right up for you.

Albert met Donna Morris in school, and they married on January 4, 1979, at Selmer Court House. They were married for almost 48 years.

He loved fishing, working outside and piddling around. He even had a love for playing the guitar. If you asked any of his family, Fat boy was a troublemaker, but they would not want him any other way. He loved his family dearly. They were his pride and joy.

Albert is survived by his wife, Donna Strickland; two sons, Michael “Buv” Strickland (Tracy McNeil) and Richard Strickland (Melanie) both of Henderson; two sisters, “Nu Nu” Willis and Wilma Morris (Dennis “Bunk”); seven grandchildren, Makayla Shea (Michael), Kaitlyn Tilley (Dillon Hopper), Weston, Addison, Avon, Lain and Lilly Strickland; six great grandchildren, Paisley McNeil, Rhaylynn and Hazel Thurmond, Weston and Morgan Shea and Stella Stanford; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Melinda “Goose” Strickland in 2015; three brothers, Leslie “Buddy” Strickland, Cecil Strickland and wife, Debbie, Masel Strickland and wife, Debbie; brother-in-law, Walter Willis; and two nephews, “Legs” and “Gus” Willis.

Funeral services will be 2:00 PM Wednesday July 22, 2026, at Shackelford Funeral Directors – Crook Avenue Chapel with burial at Mt. Carmel Cemetery.

The family will receive friends at Crook Avenue on Tuesday from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM and again on Wednesday from 12:00 PM until 2:00 PM service time.
