Albert Floyd Woods

Mr. Albert Floyd Woods, age 81 of Middleton, passed from this life Thursday morning, July 16, 2009 at his home.He was born October 16, 1927 in Dyersburg, TN to the late Dewey and Essie Mae Cummings Woods. He married Helen Vickers, who survives, October 15, 1961 and served in the Army Reserved from 1956 to 1962 as well as in the United States Coast Guard. He was Captain of the Memphis Fire Department, where he had worked for 37 years, and was a member of the Porter's Creek Baptist Church in Middleton.In addition to his wife, he is survived by five daughters, Amanda Fincher and her husband Junior of Middleton, Sandra Dowty and her husband Ricky of Memphis, Sherry Ballinger and her husband Steve of Memphis, Pam Brownlee of Memphis and Marcia Woods of Memphis; two sons, Tim Woods of Como, MS, and Gary Woods and his wife Lucretia of Memphis; a half-brother, James Carter of Baytown, TX; a half-sister, Doris McFarland of Phil Campbell, AL; twelve grandchildren and fifteen great-grandchildren.In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a half-brother, E. H. Carter.
