Alean Watson Whitaker was born March 8, 1927 in McNairy County, TN the daughter of the late Frank and Cora George Watson.
She was united in marriage to James Warren Whitaker on October 11, 1947. Mr. Whitaker preceded her in death on May 6, 2001.
Mrs. Whitaker was formerly employed as a production worker in the garment industry. She also served as a waitress for the historic Dixie Cafe in Selmer and fried a lot of chicken at Susie's Convenience Store, also in Selmer. She enjoyed making quilts and cooking Sunday and holiday dinners, but her greatest love was spending time with her family and friends. Mrs. Whitaker was a faithful member of the First Baptist Church in Selmer.
Mrs. Whitaker departed this life on November 19, 2016 in Selmer, Tennessee at the age of 89 Years, 8 Months, 11 Days. She is survived by a son, Richard Whitaker and wife Doris of Selmer, TN; three grandchildren: Regina Rankin and husband John, Tony Whitaker and wife Tracie, and Brandon Whitaker and wife Kristie; nine great-grandchildren: Jake Whitaker and wife Emily, Charlie Rankin, Maggie Whitaker, Clay Rankin, Anabelle Whitaker, Caleb Rankin, Simon Whitaker, Samuel Whitaker, and Phoebe Whitaker; and many extended family and friends.
In addition to her husband and parents, Mrs. Whitaker was preceded in death by twin great-grandsons, Matt and Luke Rankin; a sister, Perslilar Hockaday; and three brothers, Henry Watson, Johnnie Watson, and Floyd Watson.
