IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Alma Geralene
Thompson
March 8, 1929 – February 15, 2026
Alma Geralene Morris Thompson was born March 8,1929 and passed away February 15, 2026 at the age of 96.
She was born in Chester County, TN to Raymond Elbert and Mattie Alma Seaton Morris. She had one brother, James Lyman Morris.
Geralene graduated from Chester County High School in 1946. She met Willard Thompson after his return from WWII and they married August 16, 1947 and made their home in Jacks Creek, TN. They had 2 children: Reggie in 1948 and Candy in 1956.
In 1966 Willard was diagnosed with cancer which they fought together until his death in 1983. She continued to care for her elderly parents until their deaths in 1990 and 2003. The unexpected death of their son Reggie in 2003 was a devastating loss to her and the family .
Geralene was considered a master seamstress and made most of her own clothes as well as that of her daughter. She was an excellent cook. Her chocolate pies, chocolate cakes and Sock It To Me cakes were incredible! During her life she worked as a seamstress in local factories, cooked at Miller’s Big Star deli, and worked as an aide at Chester County Nursing Home.
She had many dear friends in the Jacks Creek community and loved her life there.
She was a member of Unity Baptist Church and later First Baptist Church Arab, AL when she went to live near her daughter. Her favorite Bible verse was James 4:10 “Humble yourselves before the Lord and he will lift you up.
In 2013, she sustained a debilitating injury from a fall, was unable to walk, and was cared for in a nursing care facility in Arab. She moved to Gulfport, MS in 2016 to be near her daughter and was lovingly cared for by the staff at Lakeview Nursing Care Center until her death. She was affectionately referred to as T.T. or Geri and known by everyone. She was quite a character as she and her companion dog “Scooter” were always together. Her memory was incredible, her wit was second to none, and her piercing blue eyes with that look she had will never be forgotten.
Known as Mama, Nanny, or Miss Geri by her family she will be missed greatly by those who loved her. Her greatest desire in her last days was to go home to Jacks Creek and now she has.
