Amos Herschel Long

Amos Herschel Long Jr. was born June 30, 1934 in Wayne Co, TN, the son of the late Amos Herschel and Lula Bell Crawley Long. He married Margaret Jo Tomlin on September 23, 1951 and was a retired concrete mason and a member of the Church of God.

Mr. Long departed this life, Thursday, December 22, 2016 at Wayne Medical Center, Waynesboro, Tennessee at the age of 82 Years, 5 Months, 22 Days.

He is survived by his wife, Margaret Jo Tomlin Long of Waynesboro, TN; son, Raymond Herschel Long of Waynesboro, TN; daughters, Brenda Kay Ryan, husband, Michael, of Wilmington, NC and Rhonda Jo McDonald, Deborah Allen, husband, Dwight and Shelia Glover, husband, Johnny, Jr. all of Waynesboro, TN; 10 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; brothers, Franklin D. Long of Lawrenceburg, TN and Jessie Willard Long of Waynesboro, TN; a sister, Frankie Skelton of Hohenwald, TN; nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, Mr. Long was preceded in death by a son, William Larry Tomlin; brothers, James Long and Thomas Long; sisters, Aileen Pulley, Blanche Cunningham, Dean Matney, Peggy Ricketts and Shirley Fowlkes.

A graveside service will be Friday, December 23, 2016 at Walnut Grove Cemetery, Waynesboro, Tennessee with Jimmy Pearcy officiating and Shackelford Funeral Directors, Wayne County, directing. Visitation will be from 11 am until service time at the cemetery.
