Ana Mara Hockaday Encarnacion Colon

Ana Mara Hockaday Encarnacion Colon, born on September 25, 1942, in Loiza, Puerto Rico, passed away on June 25, 2025, in Adamsville, Tennessee. She was a loving person who enjoyed life and made many cherished memories with her family and friends.

Ana completed her high school education in Bayamon, Puerto Rico. She went on to finish LPN School in Chicago, Illinois, which led her to a fulfilling career in healthcare. Ana was retired from the Wester Mental Institute in Bolivar, Tennessee, and had also worked at Selmer Hospital. She dedicated her life to caring for others, always bringing kindness and compassion into her work.

Ana loved going to the casino with her family and friends. It was one of her favorite pastimes, and she enjoyed the thrill of the games and the laughter that came with spending time with loved ones.

She was an active member of her community and attended both Falcon Baptist Church and Life Tabernacle Church in Selmer, Tennessee. Her faith was an important part of her life, and she enjoyed participating in church activities.

She is survived by two daughters, Jacqueline Marie Sanchez and husband Robert of Adamsville, TN; Ana Marie Torres and husband Jack; a son, Larry D. Hockaday Jr.; five brothers, Miguel, Felix, Francisco, Hector, and Efrian; a sister, Maria Rodriquez; three grandchildren, Priscilla Marie Sanchez, Bobby Sanchez, and Deana Marie Torres; and three great-grandchildren, Omar Sanchez, Amariana Sanchez, and Gabriella Marie Sanchez.

Ana was preceded in death by her husband, Larry Hockaday Sr.; her father, Felix Encarnacion; her mother, Fernanda Colon; a brother, Jesus Manuel Encarnacion; and three sisters, Carmen Aviles, Gloria Orta, and Josefa Encarnacion.
