ANNA BOX
Henderson, TN: Anna Lou Ward Box age 67 passed away January 23, 2018 at her home.
She was born February 10, 1950 in Broken Bow, OK, the daughter of the late Israel Ward and Emma Jean Jackson Ward. She attended Presbyterian School in Oklahoma, Grant High School. She married James Edward Box in 1968. Mrs. Box was a Native American, a member of the Mississippi Choctaw, her family having walked the Trail of Tears to Oklahoma.
Since 1968 they had made their home in Memphis for six years, working for Boatman’s Bank and then in Huntingdon from 1992 until 1997 and then Lexington where she worked for Anchor Swan Daco Hosiery until she retired in 2010.
They had lived in Chester County for the past fourteen years. She was a member of the Middlefork Road Baptist Church.
She enjoyed reading, working cross word puzzles and traveling.
Mrs. Box is survived by her husband, James Edward Box; two sons, Ricky Box of Henderson and John Box of Lexington and a daughter, Melissa Jester of Bartlett; eleven grandchildren and four great grandchildren; two brothers, Louis Bonds of Hugo, OK and Dewey Bonds of Paris, TX; and a sister, Ruth Jefferson of Bethel, OK.
She was preceded in death by her parents, a daughter, Jennifer Bohanan in 2009, a brother, Harris Ward and two sisters, Delores Jackson and Louise Jefferson.
Funeral services will be 2:00 PM Friday at Shackelford Funeral Directors – Crook Avenue with Glenn Harris and Joe Wadley officiating. Burial will follow in Middlefork Cemetery.
The family will receive friends at Shackelford Crook Avenue from 5 PM until 8 PM Thursday.
