Lewis “Anne” Patterson Jimerson
January 18, 1929 – January 28, 2026
Anne Jimerson, age 97, of Savannah, Tennessee, passed away peacefully on January 28, 2026, at 7:00 a.m. surrounded by family and friends.
Anne was born on January 18, 1929, in Gibson County, Tennessee, and received her early education in Mason Hall, Tennessee. She worked for Brown Shoe Company and Hardin County High School before later pursuing her calling in nursing. In her 40s, Anne earned her LPN degree, a testament to her determination and lifelong desire to serve others. She worked at Hardin County Medical Center and later with Dr. John Lay until her retirement.
In 1945, Anne married Edgar “Speedy” Ernest Jimerson. Together, they raised three daughters—Patricia, Janet, and Cindy. Due to Edgar’s career with Brown Shoe Company, the family lived throughout West Tennessee before settling in Savannah in 1963. Anne and Edgar were longtime, active members of First United Methodist Church, where Anne sang in the choir and faithfully participated in the women’s group and her Sunday School class. In recent years, she became a member of Savannah Methodist Church, where she dearly loved her Sunday School class and church family.
Anne was preceded in death by her parents, Lewis and Raney (Lovitt) Patterson; her daughter, Janet Burton; her son-in-law, Dennis Burgess; her brother, Johnny Patterson; and her sister, Bettye Hayes.
She is survived by her daughters, Patricia (David) Huntley and Cindy Burgess; and her son-in-law, Randy Burton. Affectionately known as “MeAnne,” she is also survived by five grandchildren: Scott (Jennifer) Huntley, Heather (Kevin) Heap, Nicky (Liz) Burgess, Jana (Mike) Austin, and Haley (Clay) Surratt; and eleven great-grandchildren: Cassidy Heap, Brenden Yancey, Micah Huntley, Kaia Heap, Preston Surratt, Elijah Austin, Morgan Surratt, Rainey Burgess, Annie Burgess, Haven Surratt, and Alice Burgess. Additional survivors include her brother, Tommy Patterson; sisters-in-law, Maidene Childrey and Bennie Patterson; and many beloved nieces and nephews.
The family extends heartfelt gratitude to the staff of Riverwick Assisted Living and Arden Hospice for their exceptional care, compassion, and love shown to our mother.
Memorials may be made to Savannah Methodist Church, the American Heart Association, or the charity of one’s choice, in lieu of flowers.
