Annie Jo Moore, age 92 of Henderson passed away Sunday morning, Nov. 11 at her home.
Mrs. Moore was born January 6, 1926 in Henderson the daughter of the late Joseph Raymond and Vera Mildred Deberry Rodgers. She graduated from Chester County High School in 1943 and began working for Southern Bell as a telephone operator in Henderson until her marriage to Nathan Warren “Curly” Moore, Sr. on Aug. 24, 1947. Mr. Moore preceded her in death on May 8, 2015 after 67 years of marriage. Later she worked as a substitute school teacher for Chester County schools for 30 years. She loved reading, baking sweets, hummingbirds and the color red. Her most prized possession was her family, especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She was a member of the Center Ridge Pentecostal Church of God where she was active for many years as a Sunday School teacher.
She is survived by three sons, Bud (the late Kathy) of Jackson, Bill (Jan) and Bob (Janeane) both of Henderson; six grandchildren, Joe Moore ( Amanda), Molly Veazey, Julie Couch (Mark), Jacob Moore (Allison), Jordan Howard (Jeremy), and Danny Hurt (Christi); and ten great-grandchildren, Aiden Moore, Eli, Ethan, Emelia and Ellis Hurt, Jack Veazey IV, Gus and Marlowe Couch, Nathan Howard, and Aurora Moore.
The family is especially appreciative of her caregivers: Audrey Brawley, Linda Curry, Jinjer Hall and Matilda Massengill.
In addition to her parents and her husband Curly, she was preceded in death by two brothers, J.W. “Dub” Thompson, and Billie Clark Rodgers, a daughter-in-law Kathy Moore, and a great granddaughter Georgia Grace Couch.
Funeral services will be held 2:00 PM Tuesday, Nov. 13 at Shackelford Funeral Directors of Henderson’s Crook Ave. Chapel with Kevin Isbell and Terry Kesley officiating. Burial will be in Chester County Memory Gardens.
The family will receive friends at Crook Ave. from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM Monday, Nov. 12.
