Annie May Moore

Mrs. Moore passed away Tuesday morning at Jackson Madison County General Hospital.



A native and life-long resident of Hardeman County, she was the daughter of the late Charlie and Hattie Lewis Wilson. She was a 1934 graduate of Whiteville High School and married Samuel Forrest Moore on June 23, 1939. Mr. Moore died December 27, 1990 after 51 years of marriage. "Momma Annie", as she was known to her family and community, was an active member of the Whiteville First Baptist Church for over 50 years. She was also active in many community affairs in Whiteville. Dearly loved by her grandchildren, she worked beside her husband as they operated Moore's Grocery in Whiteville for many years, until Mr. Moore's retirement. Afterwards, Mrs. Moore worked as a teacher's assistant in the Whiteville school system.



She leaves a daughter, Connie Lynne Moore Wood and husband, Stephen, of Bolivar; four grandchildren, Justin Wood and wife, Breanna, of Murfreesboro, Kimberly Wood Cossar and husband, Robert, of Frisco, TX, Carol Clifft Burnette and husband, Mark, of Saulsbury, and Cindy Clifft Bishop and husband, Bert, of Bolivar; seven great-grandchildren, Sid Warner, III, Ruthie Clifft, Brandon and Kelsey Bishop, Molly Burnette, Samuel Cossar and baby Caroline Wood (due in November); one great-great-grandchild, Tate Warner.



In addition to her husband and parents, Mrs. Moore was preceded in death by a daughter, Billie Moore Clifft and her husband, James; and a grandson, Jimmy Clifft; two brothers and two sisters.
