Ansel Goddard Griffin , 96, of LaGrange, Tennessee, passed from this life March 28, 2013 in Somerville.
A native of Benton County, Mississippi, Mrs. Griffin was born to William and Ida Goddard on September 28, 1916. She was reared in Grand Junction, TN, graduating at Grand Junction High School and received her BA in Elementary Education from Memphis State Teachers College (nka University of Memphis). She was married to Phillip B. Griffin November 24, 1951, and moved to LaGrange where she lived the rest of her life. They were married more than 47 years until his passing on March 2, 1999. Mrs. Griffin taught for more than 34 years.
Survivors include 2 sons, Phillip A. Griffin and his wife Kathy of LaGrange, and William H. Griffin and his wife Denise of Knoxville; a grandson, Forrest Griffin of LaGrange; 4 step-grandchildren Dax, Cade, Brittney and Tatum Carter; 5 step great-grandchildren; and a brother William K. Goddard, Jr. of N. Little Rock, AR.
In addition to her parents and husband, she is preceded in death by a sister Louise Goddard Cook, a brother Richard J. Goddard, and a nephew, William Freeley Goddard.
