Anthony Ferguson departed this life on Wednesday, May 22, 2019, at the age of 57 years, 11 months, and 26 days. He was born in Memphis, Tennessee on May 26, 1961, the son of Billie Eugene Ferguson and the late Glenda Mae Haney Ferguson. On February 5, 2011, he was united in marriage to Joyce Arnold, who survives.
Tony, as he was known to everyone, spent most of his early life in Memphis, eventually moving to Hardin County approximately 21 years ago. He began working as a barrier coat sprayer at Aqua Glass where he remained for 13 years before his health finally made working impossible. But that didn't mean he just sat down and watched as life happened around him. A great deal of his time was spent in their shop, "The Boy Den", where he enjoyed working on cars , especially race cars and show cars. Even though they worked on many, his main reason for being there was just to spend time with his family. He loved his grandchildren and really enjoyed picking on them and on his kids. As a matter of fact, things just didn't feel right if some of them weren't around.
His love of music naturally led to him working as a disc jockey, playing in numerous locations, with his favorite song being "Play That Funky Music, White Boy". Rating right up there with his music and cars were his animals, especially his cats and his horse, Echo--and his lawn mower. Tony's disability made his lawn mower an easier means of transportation than his car, and he used it often. But, above all, family was his greatest love, followed by his friends, any of whom he would have given the shirt off his back if that was what they needed.
Tony is survived by his wife, Joyce Ferguson of Savannah, Tennessee; children, Joseph Mancell and his special friend Shannon Wright of Crump, Tennessee, James Mancell and fiancee Sissy Porter, Misty Harris and her husband Michael, and Wade Mancell and his wife Tamara, all of Savannah, Tennessee; father, Billie Eugene Ferguson of Baldwyn, Mississippi; grandchildren, Rebecca Harris, Emily Harris, Dakota Mancell, Marie Mancell, Jasmine Mancell, Angel Mancell, Connor Mancell, Tracy Mancell, Adam Harris, Sabastian Mancell, and Andrew Harris; great grandchild, Bralyn Mancell; a brother, David Wayne Ferguson of Memphis, Tennessee; and nieces Jessica Beighley and Sarah Queen.
Private services will be held.
