Arbie Olea Plunk was born October 24, 1926 in McNairy County, Tennessee the fifth child of the late Daniel Jefferson and Martha Louzia Plunk Plunk.
He was united in marriage to the love of his life, Betty Jo Goodrum, on July 31, 1948. Mrs. Plunk preceded him in death on January 3, 1967 after only 19 years of marriage.
Growing up in the Hines Gin community of McNairy County, Mr. Plunk attended the Hunter's Store School. He loved to fish, farm, and spend time with his family. He worked for a time at The Tower Cafe in Selmer as a cook, but the majority of his career was spent working for Price and Midwestern Pipeliners as a boom operator and pipefitter. He was a member of the Pipeliners Union Local 798, the Loyal Order of the Moose, and was Baptist in faith. Above all, he was a loving father.
Mr. Plunk departed this life on July 19, 2011 in Selmer, Tennessee at the age of 84 Years, 8 Months, 25 Days. He is survived by two daughters, Carolyn Regina (Plunk) Whitten and companion Larry Mayfield of Ramer, TN and Donna Leanne (Plunk) Mayfield and husband Paul Dewayne (Coley) of Selmer, TN, a sister, Beedie E. Floyd of Ramer, TN; six grandchildren: Jeffery Warren Plunk of Memphis, TN, Leslie Elizabeth Plunk of Memphis, TN, James Nathan Whitten of Ramer, TN, Justin Ray Raider of Selmer, TN, Jessica Mayfield of Iraq and Brandy Mayfield of Texas; a great-grandchild, Kayla Lynn Plunk of Memphis, TN; a daughter-in-law, Barbara Lynn (Arrington) Plunk of Memphis, TN; special friends William (Willie) Jarnigan and Barry (Bear) Thacker; and a host of nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.
In addition to his wife and parents, Mr. Plunk was preceded in death by a son, Harold David Plunk; a sister, Irma E. (Plunk) Huggins; three brothers, Jefferson David Plunk, James Beuard Plunk, William Henry Plunk.
