Arthur Bishop, 93, of Bolivar, passed away Sunday morning, September 12, 2010 at Jackson-Madison County General Hospital.
The husband of Patricia Bishop, who survives, he worked as a carrier for Farmers and Merchants Bank, worked for his brother, Joel at Exxon and was employed by Borg Warner in Memphis for many years. Mr. Bishop was born October 17, 1916 in District 15 of Fayette County and lived in Memphis and Bolivar. He was a member of Mt. Tabor Primitive Baptist Church and attended Bolivar Church of Christ. He served his country as a Staff Sergeant in the US Army in World War 2 from 1943 to 1946 with the 567th ordinance of heavy maintenance (field artillery) and enjoyed gardening and Indianapolis Colts Football and St. Louis Cardinals.
In addition to his wife, whom he married August 22, 2002, he is survived by a brother, Brinkley Bishop; six step-children and numerous step grandchildren and step great grandchildren. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by four sisters, Bertha Mae Maddox, Lorine Landreth, Arbelle Seddens and Lula Gilchrist; and six brothers, Joel, Jack, Audric, Leo, Roy and Herman Bishop.
