Ashpy William Orndoff Jr

We gather here to honor and celebrate the life of Ashpy William Orndoff Jr., passed away on September 10, 2025, at the age of 85. He was born on August 31, 1940, to the late Ashpy Williams Sr. and Ruth Estelle Legas Orndoff..

Ashpy honorably served in the United States Navy from 1962 to 1966 during the Vietnam War, making his mark aboard the SS Saratoga. His commitment to his country was a testament to his strength and dedication.

In the embrace of marriage, Ashpy found joy with Dinah Jean Orndoff, and together they created a loving home filled with warmth. His professional life, marked by his role as a clerk for USPS in Columbia, TN, was followed by his spirited decision to work at Long John Silver’s in Lawrenceburg, TN. Even in retirement, Ashpy exemplified an active lifestyle, always looking for ways to contribute and stay engaged.

An enthusiastic member of T.O.P.S, Ashpy took great pride in fostering a community where he could inspire others. Outside of work, he found solace in the great outdoors—tending to his farm with his beloved goats, nurturing his garden, woodworking, and in his younger day he enjoying the thrill of hunting and fishing.

Ashpy leaves behind a legacy of kindness, dedication, and a spirit that inspired all who knew him. His memory will forever be cherished in the hearts of family and friends. As we bid farewell, let us remember Ashpy's vibrant spirit and the countless ways he brightened our lives.

He is survived by his wife Dinah Jean Orndoff of Waynesboro, TN; son, Ashpy Orndoff III and wife Christina of Ormond Beach, FL; daughters, Katherine Orndoff-Stein of Waynesboro, TN, and Jacqueline Sterling of Ocean City, MD; grandchildren, Cody Orndoff, Allie Orndoff, and Juana Ramirez; and 5 great grandchildren.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, September 18, 2025 from 11:00 am until 2:00 pm service time at Shackelford Funeral Directors in Waynesboro, TN.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday, September 18, 2025 at 2:00 pm at Shackelford Funeral Directors in Waynesboro, TN.

Private family burial will be held at Memorial Gardens of Wayne County in Waynesboro, TN at a later time.
